The average life expectancy for a healthy, accident free dog in the United States is about 11 years but even with healthy dogs breed and size make a difference.

When dogs are young small breeds tend to mature more quickly than larger dogs do but after about four years of age large dogs begin maturing at a quicker rate.

Alot of us use the rule of multiplying a dogs age by 7 to arrive at their age in people years but that is not always an accurate measure of your dog's age.
